Titanium Scales for Demko AD20.5 - Liner Removed

The scales provide a thicker handle, larger forward finger choil, and a fully recessed lock grove. These adjustments are made for added comfort when handling, deploying and disengaging the shark lock. Due to the deep milling of the scales, the total weight of the knife is about 4.1oz.

Note:

- Includes two stainless steel washers that needed to be placed between each scale and ball bearing washers (not between blade and ball bearing washers).

- Stop and lock pins have solid and line markings on each end. Placed the solid ends together on the right-hand pocket clip side of the scales first. es.

- Lightly brushed with aluminum blasted textured.

- knife and hardware not included.

- Not compatible with AD20.5 Ti & CF Version.

- These scales are made to replace the steel liners and stock grivory/G10 scales.

- All blasted scales are finished with oil-based PTFE to help reduce fingerprints and scratches.

- Made out of grade 5 titanium

- Please allow 3-5 business days to process.

Excellent product and after-sales service, I recommend it.

I bought the scale for my AD20.5 and I only have praise for the product and the seller. Initially, I was hesitant to buy, as I do not live in the United States, and the exchange rate between the dollar and my country’s currency made the product extremely expensive, not to mention the import fees involved (the high cost is due to local taxes in the country I live in). Despite this, I received full support from the seller, who was always very attentive and responsive to my emails, often replying within just a few minutes. When the product arrived, I encountered a tolerance issue, which anyone with some mechanical knowledge knows can happen. I’m not sure if the pivot of my pocket knife was slightly larger or if the scale had a slightly smaller diameter.

As a consumer, I understand that this type of issue can happen, so I contacted the owner (I believe), showed him the tolerance issue with the scale (perhaps the pocket knife pivot was out of standard diameter), and he promptly said he would send me another as soon as possible. Products can have size variations, especially custom-made ones, so what matters most in these situations is after-sales service, and the after-sales support from Rockscale Design is excellent. I noticed that other companies making custom scales receive many complaints about their after-sales service, which is concerning.

Regarding the scale itself, the second one sent fit perfectly. Besides the aesthetic improvement, I think the Shark Lock mechanism now operates more smoothly, and even the sound has better "quality" when opening and closing the pocket knife. It is worth noting that the website states that the scale does not fit AD20.5 models in carbon fiber, but this does not apply to all versions of the carbon fiber ones. I think this should be clarified on the website, as it could lead to lost sales. If you have the carbon fiber version, ask him if it fits your pocket knife.

Fantastic fit & finish!!!

I was a little worried about the operation of the shark lock being smooth after ready a few other reviewers saying they were unhappy. Not sure what they were talking about because mine is actually more smooth than it was with the grivory g10 scales. Just apply a SMALL amount of knife butter or kpl or your favorite lubricant to both sides of the lock where it makes
Contact with the scales and enjoy!!! Absolutely fantastic scales! And they have a slight “grip” to them they’re not fully smoothed.

The Good & Bad... I hope they read this.

OK, so I love the fact Rockscale is inovating titanium scales that make your 20.5 liner less but there is a few suggestions and improvements that could be made. One, the finish is rough and because of that the shark lock is "grindy" unless you sand down inside the scales and polish up the area where the shark lock slides. Second, the scales look AMAZING with the backspacer, and you basically have to buy it if you want everything to tie together. And here is where I had a massive issue, let me explain. The website doesn't mention ANYWHERE that the Sharksfoot blade aka Demkos take on the wharncliffe, will NOT fit with Rockscales backspacers. I bought the scales and backspacer and when I closed my blade I chipped a chunk out of my brand new $280 20cv blade. I guess I should of checked before flipping my knife closed but I assumed this all has been dumby checked and accounted for. I know Original Goats backspacer works with the Sharks Foot, so my logic was that Rockscale's would too (urghhh). This needs to be addressed and future buyers need to be warned none the less. I'm in the process of trying to return my system unfortunately for this very reason, but I'm still waiting to get a reply from their team in order to RMA. Communication and dialog sometimes takes several days it seems. At the end of the day, the scales are great but not perfect. I definitely appreciate what Rockscale is doing for the modding community, but I wish they would employ some slight changes. For one, I wish they offered a lighter beadblast finish, their version is VERY dark and does not match most aftermarket "blasted" parts. As I mentioned above, they need to pre-polish the shark lock region, their finish is like sandpaper and the lock kinda sucks with the scales on versus the glassy butter you have with OEM scales. Lastly, they need to make a backspacer that WORKS with EVERY blade variation. It's not hard to do - at all. You just need to remove 1/16" of material off the inner radias of the unit. And I think finally, they need to work on email replies. I usually have to wait 2+ days to get an email reply if I'm lucky. For these reasons I have to give them 3 stars for now. If they address some of these issues and listen to the community suggestions, I will change my rating to 5 stars and buy from them again. For now, I'm going to stick with my OEM scales or Goats.
